Relative clauses

RELATIVE PRONOUNSEsta gramática analiza los Pronombres Relativos WHO (quien) y THAT (que) utilizados para describir cualidades y características de las personas. Es importante recordar que estos pronombres pueden omitirse en inglés cuando son objetos pero nunca cuando son sujetos.

Una cláusula relativa que describe a una persona nos brinda información sobre la persona (o tipo de persona) acerca de quien se habla.

Cuando se los utiliza como sujeto del verbo en una cláusula relativa, WHO o THAT toman el lugar de los pronombres personales I/you/he/she/we/they.

Sin embargo, cuando WHO o THAT son utilizados como objeto del verbo toman el lugar de los pronombres objetivos me/you/him/her/us/them.
1) RELATIVE PRONOUNS AS "SUBJECTS"

I like people. They aren't too serious.(Me gusta la gente. No es excesivamente seria).
I like people WHO aren't too serious.(Me gusta la gente QUE no es excesivamente seria).
I like people. They have a good sense of humor.(Me gusta la gente. Tiene buen sentido del humor).
I like people THAT have a good sense of humor.
(Me gusta la gente QUE tiene buen sentido del humor).
2) RELATIVE PRONOUNS AS "OBJECTS"

I'd prefer someone. I can talk to him easily.(Prefiero a alguien. Puedo conversar con él sin complicaciones).
I'd prefer someone (WHO) I can talk to easily.
(Prefiero a alguien CON QUIEN pueda conversar sin complicaciones).[Aquí puedes omitir el pronombre relativo WHO para agilizar tu comentario]
I'd prefer someone. I have something in common with him.(Prefiero a alguien. Tengo intereses comunes con él).
I'd prefer someone (THAT) I have something in common with.
(Prefiero a alguien CON QUIEN tenga intereses comunes).
